Getting to talk with you about whatever little things around the house intrigue and interest me every day and having you share your own thoughts on making life a little easier right back with me, while getting to call it my.

Very tempted.. Go a little bit traditional.Even if your style leans towards more modern decor, putting in one or two really traditional “dining room”-y elements in your space will make it feel more like a. real.

dining room and less like just a random purpose-less room. This can be a tradionalish buffet or china cabinet, maybe some nice paneling on the walls like you see in a lot of dining rooms, or you can do something like we did with our plate rack. One of the things I’d really like to have in this room one day is some nice built in cabinetry to hold dishes, but since we can’t do that right now, a plate rack gives that “built-in storage” feel.

It was cheap and quick too!.Define the space with an area rug.

If your dining room is really just a corner of a living room or a kitchen, adding in an area rug that you love can really help to define the space and give it its own identity.

I like the rug to have something in common with other rugs that are nearby, like our grey living room rug, but not to match exactly. The golden oak cabinets aren’t really my thing, but the previous home owners definitely did a great job of making this a cozy and functional kitchen and they didn’t cheap out on things like good quality hardware and cabinetry.

Things like the built in spice cupboard are just little details, but they make me happy..I have dreams of a big white kitchen with new hardwood floors, extra cabinet space on the other side of the room, and maybe some butcher block counters too.

Since this is supposed to be my dream kitchen, I’m leaning towards getting some professionals in to do the big jobs really well, and that of course comes with a price tag.Since that’s not going to be happening any time soon, I’ve found some ways to make myself feel more at home in this kitchen that is so not me..
